GUIDED SWIM EXPERIENCES
Limited Availability During COVID-19 Pandemic
LOCATIONS
Most of the swimming will take place along the white sandy beaches and turquoise coastlines of Lewis and Harris or freshwater lochs that are easily accessed and are suitable to all swimming abilities. The choice of location will be tailored to your requirements but will also depend upon the conditions of the day.
The most challenging swims will be between small islands, across channels or around rugged areas of coastline but this will only be undertaken by the more experienced sea swimmers with water craft safety provided. Long-distance swims to outer islands can be arranged by special request.
EQUIPMENT
Wetsuit, socks/boots, goggles and gloves are included in your experience if required. Mandatory equipment (bright swim cap and tow-float) will also be provided. You are welcome to bring your own equipment but your tow-float and swim cap will need to meet the safety requirements and is mandatory for wetsuit and non-wetsuit swims.
The temperature of the sea around the Hebrides varies from 9 - 14 degrees in the summer so if you are not used to these temperatures you might want to bring a thermal rash vest for over your swimsuit or under your wetsuit. Time in the water can be adjusted according to experience.
Loch temperatures can be higher than the sea in the summer but much colder in the winter.
